Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Lettuce wraps serve as a good appetizer. Stuff filling into lettuce leaves, roll, and enjoy. Chestnuts add a good crunch to this dish.  Adding ketchup makes the dish even more delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups boneless chicken minced 

  • 2 heads boston lettuce 

  • 4 tablespoons oil

  • 5 red chillies cut into small pieces

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger

  • 1 medium onion finely chopped

  • 12 mushrooms diced into small pieces

  • 8 oz can water chestnuts drained and finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons chilli garlic paste

  • 3 tablespoons hoison sauce

  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon chinese five spice powder

  • 5 green onions finely chopped for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat oil in a wok. Add the red chillies ( tends to burn ). Immeadiately add the minced ginger and garlic . Fry slightly.

  2. Add the onions and saute till half cooked . 

  3. Add the chicken  and fry well, till it turns opaque.

  4. Add the mushrooms and chestnuts and mix well.

  5. Combine the chilli paste, hoison sauce, soy sauce  and chinese five spice into the chicken, till everything comes together.

  6. Check for salt . Add if necessary.

  7. Switch off and add the green onions for garnish.
